projects
I currently work as a software engineer at Bombardier Flight Test Center. I graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. This is a list of some of my more interesting projects.

Programming Projects

Active: Toadwater
I'm in charge of the client for the game, and make sure that everything runs smoothly.
Active: YaBB 3
I'm the lead developer for YaBB 3, the next major version. We are taking our lessons from the last iteration of YaBB 3 and applying them to the source of YaBB 2. The result will be a lean, mean configurable machine. The current schedule places it done in April 2010.
On hiatus: assemblebot
assemblebot was an experiment into several Perl technologies for me. I added a reloadable command parser, a TK GUI and several other 'nifty' features. It was really fun for me, because instead of reading the RFC like a good kid, I decided I would just reverse engineer the IRC protocol. This project was a huge learning experience for me, but the code is not something that should be run unless supervised--I was not so security minded at the time.
Shelved: Lightsword Academy
This was my experiment in writing an online game. It didn't get very far because I lost interest after I realized that some mistakes I made planning the thing would require a large amount of time to repair.

Engineering Projects

Active: Gauss Cannon
My friend, a physics major, and I are currently in the planning stages of building a coil gun. It is not quite as ambitious and dangerous as a rail gun, but I'm sure we can still piss off the neighbors! The Wikipedia article on coilguns has lots of fun details about how these things work. I don't know if we'll put the plans online or not--there may be liability issues if someone tries to duplicate our work and blows a part of themself off.

Future Projects

I've got a few ideas for other projects that I just haven't gotten to yet.
Tesla Coil
Every EE should want to build one of these at some point in their life. I haven't decided which kind would be the most interesting, but the Tesla Coil Speaker videos on youtube make me want to make a solid state coil.
Rail gun
Rail guns are just plain dangerous--which makes me just plain interested.
